Stylish Robes for the Finest Toes.

I’m getting a pedicure today.

I haven’t done that in years. Neither the open toe shoes I wore to a posh spring wedding nor the beach holiday over the summer managed to get me to the salon.

But if anything demands the best looking toes I can offer … it’s this beauty.

Handcrafted Indonesian Batik Robe, 'Tropical Blooms'

Deep red is one of those surprising dares that suits almost every skin tone, and I love the boldly blackened hibiscus blossom – like a photographic negative. It’s made by Nyoman Nadri, who creates custom prints for her women’s robes.

This one, for example, was clearly made for a lady who, like me, can’t live without deep pockets.

Batik robes, popular worldwide, are particularly at home in Indonesia, where the technique of decorating cloth with wax and dye is an ancient tradition.

When you combine hand painted cloth with the timeless cut of a kimono, you can’t go wrong.

The deep sleeves on this deep violet original suggest a ceremonial purpose – certainly not washing dishes.

Truly, the stylish cuts and lush fabrics of Indonesian robes are almost too gorgeous to be reserved for the house.

I don’t blame this gal at all for wanting to take her “Night dragonflies” out into the daylight.

I would host a slumber party to show off this sweet dream. In fact, its soft brown and rose print reminds me of the quintessential femininity of the Laura Ashley florals I wore as a child.

Still, I think the best dressing gown should make you never want to get dressed!

So – I present the perfect plush robe for continuous coziness. Embroidered with cord and endowed with deep pockets (yay!), this belted cotton robe designed by Banlue Luerang of Thailand comes in cream, dove grey or – my favorite – “cherry tea.”

Should you feel that you really should “get dressed,” you can always just add an accessory, like an anklet of red quartz and brass beads that, like the robe, is crafted in Thailand.

Here is another charm bracelet for the tootsies. Turquoise set in sterling silver is the perfect accent for a silk-screened “verdant breeze” wrap.

So, the ankle bracelet is selected, the pedicure is booked. Now all I need is to polish up the knees a bit to rock one of these fabulous short robes.
