This pretty ceramic flower pot is crafted by Rosario Ferro in Mexico. The white glazed pot features a pair of birds and a bunch of roses perched on one side of the rim. The planter would be an especially elegant display for a miniature rose plant or a small succulent.

"I studied in workshops in Italy, and there I realized the potential I have."

“My name is Rosario Ferro, and from a young age I liked to paint. I painted many pieces, especially the facades of... houses. I liked to decorate them with still life, among other ideas that arose from my creativity.

“Currently I like to see life from its different perspectives, despite the unpleasant situations through which it has led me. Leaving the ceramic company in which I was trained as a potter without being able to recover what I invested, and going through a painful divorce process and moving forward with my emotional and financial strength, have helped me to focus on pottery, which is what I love the most. It made me realize that I have accomplished many things, such as representing my state through my work as a potter in a tour called Hands of the Vatican World to publicize the process of the ceramics to His Excellency, Pope Francis.

“I like to continue learning ceramic processes. I studied in workshops in Italy, and there I realized the potential I have. Women dedicate themselves to decorating, a process that I do with my pieces and that I continue to polish in order to formulate my own materials, colors and techniques. Currently my knowledge is deeper, because I continue to train thanks to great friends who help me identify various minerals and oxides. I really like my craft because it has an added value. The challenge is always to make them stand out from the rest, because none are the same. I like to capture the passion in each one, because they are unique.

“The materials that I use to work my pieces are mostly clay, lead-free enamels, and other elements that do not harm the environment. To make the colors, I use stones that I find in my community. I grind them and do tests in the oven, thus obtaining interesting colors to have a variety of shades. I like to be sustainable; therefore, I recycle what I can. The clay can be stored in water to be preserved, and the damaged pieces are ground up to be used again. Seeing the final result, I fall much more in love with what I do.

“When people see my pieces, it fills me with pride and satisfaction knowing that they inspire hope and love. Art has healed me, and now I understand its concept. I feel very proud of everything I have achieved and want to achieve. I want to spread my crafts, create jobs and rescue our cultural identity so that it is not lost and pass it on from generation to generation.”

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
