Talavera is more than just a craft for me; it is a way to express my identity and connect with my roots. Every piece I create is a part of my soul.

"My name is Rosa Maria Cardona, and since I was a child, clay has been my inseparable companion. I grew up in the heart... of Guanajuato, surrounded by the magic of Talavera pottery. In the family workshop, amidst the scent of wet clay and the vibrant colors of the glazes, I discovered my passion. Every piece I saw come to life from my father’s hands was a work of art that inspired me to create.

"Over time, my curiosity transformed into determination. I wanted to carry on the family tradition, but also add my own personal touch. With the support of my family, I established my own workshop. I remember the early days, full of excitement but also uncertainty. Being a woman in a male-dominated world wasn’t easy, but my love for Talavera pottery kept me moving forward.

"I draw inspiration from nature, the culture of my land, and the stories told by the colors. Talavera is more than just a craft for me; it is a way to express my identity and connect with my roots. Every piece I create is a part of my soul.

"Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to share my work with the world. Each exhibition is an opportunity to meet wonderful people and share my passion. Despite the initial nerves, I always find the strength to take the stage and tell my story.

"Today, I look back with gratitude and forward with excitement. My workshop is my refuge, my creative space where I can let my imagination run free. Although the journey hasn’t always been easy, I am convinced that Talavera will continue to be my companion for many more years to come."
