Chattima

Chattima

I choose to incorporate cultural fabrics of Southeast Asia into my clothing because I am drawn to the vibrant, unique, and storytelling qualities of these fabrics.

"I am Chattima, born in 1967 in northern Thailand. My family has a background in furniture making, specializing in teak... pieces. From a young age, I had a passion for art, which led me to study costume design at a vocational college in my hometown. After graduating, I ventured into tailoring, creating custom clothing for women. I manage all aspects of the process, from design to pattern making to sewing.

"I choose to incorporate cultural fabrics of Southeast Asia into my clothing because I am drawn to the vibrant, unique, and storytelling qualities of these fabrics. Preserving traditional hand embroidery techniques is also important to me. I believe it is a vital aspect of the charm of using these wonderful fabrics. It is my sincere hope that my work can be shared with people around the world, helping to preserve traditions and culture."
