"I come from a family of painters — my father, mother and sister are all established painters. Watching my family paint, it was natural for me to become interested in art. My talent for art and painting flourished while in high school, and I've continued developing my artistic ability since completing my tertiary education in digital marketing. Today, I'm a full-time painter and artist.

"My art could be described as Neo-Africanism. That is, an art form that incorporates the African philosophical and cultural universe as a starting point.

"Borrowing from the vocabulary of African motifs, our batik tradition and textile imagery, I've created an art form that encapsulates African traditions, customs, and values. This incorporation of African traditional values is my prime mode of inspiration. I use gouache, paper, and canvas as my prime media, and the expressionist technique of painting."

Bright's participation in the maiden edition of the CFAO Young Talent Art Competition (2022) brought visibility to his art form and practice. The CFAO, Young Talent Art Competition organized in collaboration with SoView Gallery in East Legon, Accra, is to give young artists living in Ghana the opportunity to display their talents whilst supporting the development of Arts in Ghana.

Emerging as the second prize winner, Bright's painting of three maidens endowed with three eyes on a journey was described as having "a surreal [but] yet abstract approach." The artist explained that journeys can also be a mental one requiring the ability to see into the future and plan towards it, hence the extra eye. It was a moment of achievement for him, and he was profoundly proud of his contribution to the emerging art scene in Ghana.

Influenced by a philosophy of neo-Africanism as an art form, Bright sees the African social, political, economic, and cultural environment as the inspiration for his artistic practice. An art form that reflects his reality. Original Bio

“Hello everyone! My name is Bright Lamptey. I am a young, talented painter born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1994. I am the second born of my parents, Edward Adeniran Lamptey and Roseline Adeniran Lamptey.

“I come from a background of painters. I grew up watching my dad and older sister paint. This is how I got interested in this art. While attending senior high school, I discovered that I also had a talent for painting, so I started painting full-time after finishing my tertiary education.

“I use gouache, brushes, paper, and canvas; and I use the expressionist technique of painting. I usually paint in my room at home. First, I make sketches, and then paint over them.

“I recently graduated from the Polytechnic, majoring in Leisure and Tourism and Hospitality Management. My painting went professional three months after graduating from the Polytechnic. My dream is to become a professor of Hospitality Management, but I will still continue with my art.

“Painting is a family art and I really enjoy it. I have a lot of creativity in me, so I don’t think I will stop painting any time soon. I get my inspiration from school and from my family. I teach some of the school kids in my neighborhood, since I want to pass my knowledge on to others.

“My dad, who is an established NOVICA artist, introduced me to NOVICA. I am very happy to be a part of NOVICA, because it will me give an international platform to showcase and sell my works. Aside from being a renowned painter, I also want to make a living out of my craft.”

A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

See buckle/tie belt size standards below.

Triple 'Win' Pricing

UNICEF Market offers triple win pricing, where YOU the consumer, Children from around the world, and Artisans all benefit.

WIN # 1 You Save!

Handmade goods from developing nations usually pass through a series of intermediaries before being purchased by retail consumers. Each of these intermediaries adds cost to the product, and that cost is passed on to the customer. UNICEF USA partnered with NOVICA, who works directly with artists through their regional offices in Asia, Africa and Latin America, allowing purchases from UNICEF Market to go directly from the artisans to fulfilling customer orders. By skipping steps in the traditional supply chain, you can buy high quality items for less than the regular retail prices.

WIN # 2 Children Benefit!

Each item purchased from UNICEF Market will benefit UNICEF's programs that provide lifesaving nutrition, medicine, education, clean water, emergency relief and more to children in need.

You can learn more about UNICEF's work, on About UNICEF.

WIN # 3 Artisans Profit!

UNICEF Market artisans set their own prices and control their own businesses. UNICEF Market offers artisans a free platform to sell their work throughout the United States.
