Alok Agarwal

“Hi friends! I am Alok Agarwal from the Sun City of India, Jodhpur. I was born in 1976. I am very hardworking, honest... and a person of strong determination.

“I started my first job at the very young age of 13 due to financial crisis at home. I joined an art and handicraft factory at Jodhpur as a helping hand to the artisans who worked there. As I was very young, I was amazed and greatly influenced by the beauty of the craft. I used to marvel at how a simple iron sheet could be converted into beautiful art pieces. Likewise, how uneven wood chunks or logs could be converted into amazing sculptures. I used to observe the artisans as they worked, and developed an interest to do the same. My curiosity of knowing how these different crafts were being made attracted me to this world. They would often let me try my hand at the crafts under their guidance.

“After four years of my work there, I joined another company in Jodhpur who exported handicraft items. There I learned professionally how to craft different kinds of sculptures, tealights and wooden furniture. Very soon, with hard work, dedication and practice, I mastered this craft. My favorite thing about this craft is to give shape or form to wood or metal. It is very challenging to craft an item from wood or metal. Once I mastered this craft, I started crafting some products with my own ideas, and got appreciation for the same.

“After 18 years of work in the export company, I decided to do something on my own. My wife, who is a nurse by profession, supported me emotionally and financially. I get my inspiration from nature. I try to create fine and unique products every time. I do the designing and crafting by myself. I started a small workshop of my own with 5 to 6 workers to assist me initially. Now I have a team of 50 people. Some people work from their homes. We provide them the materials and designs, and they craft the products. The finishing and assembling of the products are done in the workshop under my supervision.

“Together we craft beautiful sculptures, pots, tealights, and other gift items. We use iron sheet, poster colors, acrylic stones, mango wood and babul wood to craft our products. We work as a family that strives towards the attainment of goals with proficiency and dedication, and keep client satisfaction as its utmost priority. We supply our products to many handicraft shops in Jaipur and other parts of the country. We have also participated in many local fairs in and around Jodhpur.

“I am very enthusiastic about my work. I also teach my co-workers in my workshop. Presently, I am the only person in my family who is doing this work but I would love to teach my children or others the beauty of this craft. Working with me gives an opportunity of employment for my team workers. They are able to provide a stable life to their family and provide education to their children. It is my dream to expand my work and spread the beauty of my craft to the entire world. I hope that people will appreciate the beauty of my work.”

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
