Hand-embroidered flowers bring a touch of elegance to the neckline of this gorgeous tunic by Rishab Tandon. The flowers are created with cotton thread using a traditional and popular embroidery technique from India called chikankari. Crafted from soft polyester, the long sleeve top features a printed floral and vine motif on a bright tangerine background and three buttons at the neckline. More hand-embroidered flowers decorate the back.

“I am Rishab Tandon from Lucknow, the City of Nawabs; famous for its heritage and chikankari hand embroidery work. My... “I am Rishab Tandon from Lucknow, the City of Nawabs; famous for its heritage and chikankari hand embroidery work. My friends say that I am very creative, diligent and passionate about my work.

“Since my childhood days, I was fascinated by the brilliance of the varied kinds of fabrics and embroidery work, and I wanted to join this textile world. My father is an expert in hand chikankari embroidery work, and I learned this craft from my father. I studied fashion design and fashion merchandising and pursued a diploma course from the Indian Institute of Export Management.

“In the year 2010, I started my own workshop with a team of 11 artisans. I decided to create garments with chikankari embroidery, as I am very attracted towards the intricate beauty and grandeur of it. The thought that one simple needle and thread can create magic is magical in itself. We manufacture all kinds of ladies, men’s and kid’s garments and specialize in hand and machine embroidery, especially hand chikankari work. We also manufacture garments with appliqué, beads and sequins. We ardently supervise all our products to maintain the superior quality. We try to keep one eye on the changing market trends and one to keep vigilance on systematic management and inspections at every level. We ensure standard quality with timely delivery to meet our customer’s expectations.

“Many women from the nearby villages work on a part-time basis with us, since it is difficult for them to come to the workshop to work as they have to look after their children, family and home. We deliver the designed fabrics and other necessary things required for chikankari work to their homes; they in turn complete the work and then we get it collected. In this way, they get an opportunity to earn money and do something of their own. Presently, I have a team of 50 local artisans, mainly women, thus empowering them in this unique skill. Working with me gives the artisans a fixed income and a stable life.

“My designs are inspired by nature. I myself take care of the color combinations used for each fabric and garment. We have participated in IIGF and other local fairs. We also have customers from Portugal, Uruguay, and Germany who are in love with our chikankari work. We try to give our customers the best.

“I dream of covering the globe with our elegant chikankari apparel. I am thankful to you for giving me a platform to showcase my unique designs to the whole world. I hope that you will appreciate my designs and embroidery work.”

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
