“I have been part of the Novica family since 2004. It makes me very happy to be able to collaborate and give more job opportunities to several jewelers and train metal craftsmen. We have been challenged with difficulties, especially with the COVID crisis that affects us all and also the families who collaborate with me. I am thankful to my great partner Gaby who supports me with the workshops.

“Being part of the Novica family improved my self-esteem; it helped me believe in my designs and the way I see the art of jewelry design. One of the goals I set for myself is to include natural materials and develop new designs.

“I appreciate the opportunity to reach so many corners of the world. And now in these difficult times of pandemic, of radical changes, we continue with the certainty of learning and coming out stronger.”

Original Artist Story

"I'm Carmen Griselda Anocibar. I was born in Argentina on February 23, 1961. Most of my life has been dedicated to art, both in teaching and in crafting ceramics and jewelry, and I was a ceramics professor at the Universidad Nacional de Misiones in Argentina.

"My husband's job took us to Lima where I met a Peruvian friend who was taking jewelry classes. I went with her to the academy one day and after that, I never missed a class until I had learned all I could.

"I visited many different cities to learn about ancient and modern techniques for working with a metal as beautiful and precious as Andean silver.

"This is how I became familiar with this wonderful Peruvian culture and all that can be done with its riches – minerals, wood, etc. – combined in unique ways. So I decided to stay here, studying and discovering the secrets of pre-Hispanic silversmiths, and applying them to jewelry. I want to perpetuate these traditions.

"My inspiration comes from ethnic art. In nature's forms such as stones, seashells and wood, I find a perfect source of inspiration for creating jewelry with my own hands. It is so fulfilling.

"My work is somewhat contemporary, lineal with contrasting surfaces and the influence of ethnic art. My desire is to represent in silver the designs that nature inspires. Through each piece, I strive to transmit that these designs do work – the contemporary with nature and ethnic motifs.

"I place a great deal of effort into each and every piece of jewelry, giving the best of me so that they look beautiful on everyone who wears them."

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
