Details

Subtle color and fine styling distinguish this trendy cape by Luis Enrique Gonzales. Redesigning the traditional Andean ruana cloak, he adds a knitted collar and covered buttons with bound buttonholes. The sleeveless wrap is reversible, with beige on one side and ivory on the other. The Peruvian designer works in luxurious baby alpaca, the fine fleece from the season's first shearing.

"This to me means the materialization of what started as a dream I shared with my wife, and to this day it continues to fill us with great satisfaction."

"I grew up in land filled with natural riches such as fertile fields and local animals, including alpacas. I was born in... Cuzco where my father looked after a hacienda and my mother worked as a secretary. I was a very active kid who loved socializing, singing and dancing… and I still do!

"I was also a very curious boy and I loved accompanying my dad, who taught me about nature and its products. I decided to study agronomy, which allowed me to combine everything my father taught me with what I was being taught.

"When I married Carmela Sierra, who is a Novica featured artist, I also became enthralled with the world of handicrafts. Carmela specializes in handbags and she comes from a Cuzco family who has for generations worked in traditional artesanías. This marked a new beginning in my life, and Carmela and I started by creating ceramic pieces all the while learning new techniques from a variety of products. Eventually we decided to specialize in apparel, which we make with natural Andean materials.

"In 1992 we were able to start our own workshop, where we created our own designs and selected our materials with extreme care. We transformed our enthusiasm into original designs and our collections were so well received that we started to get invited to fashion shows in Lima.

"Suddenly, during one of these shows a reporter approached me and asked for the name of our brand -- but we didn't have one! Not wanting to admit as much to the reporter, I quickly made up one combining mine and Carmela's name!

"My designs are about elegance, style, fashion, presence and above all, my designs are about sharing with the world the artistry of Cuzco artisans. This to me means the materialization of what started as a dream I shared with my wife, and to this day it continues to fill us with great satisfaction.

"Of all my achievements, the ones I am most grateful to God for is to have been able to give my children a good education, to have been able to develop in this field, and above all to have formalized our efforts into a family venture.

"Please know that each piece that comes out of our workshop carries with it all the effort and love of my family and that of the artisans who work with us."

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
