“Costume jewelry is a way of developing artistic skills, which allows us to foster creativity."
“My name is Andrea Valverde. I was born in 1980 in San José, Costa Rica. I consider myself an honest, humble person with many goals and dreams to fulfill. I lived a happy childhood, playing in trees with my cousins and friends, always surrounded by the love of my parents and brothers.
“My grandmother was my inspiration to start in this beautiful art. At 102 years old you could see her agility when knitting in wool. She made wonderful products, and that is how I began to weave pieces, conceptualizing them in different textures and designs.
“Costume jewelry is a way of developing artistic skills, which allows us to foster creativity. I make my products with recyclable material, natural stones, clay, steel and other metals. What I like the most is making each piece, seeing how it looks and knowing that it is made with a lot of love. When it reaches customers, they can appreciate a new design made by a Costa Rican artisan. I am inspired by the fauna and flora of my country to make my pieces.”
