"I realized that I needed to give back to society whatever I learned in school, so I joined the National Commission for Civic Education."
"I hail from Sekondi Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana where I grew up with my siblings and parents. My parents... were strict parents, but open to any questions asked. These qualities of my parents have also made me strict and principled in life. One thing they really impressed upon us is honesty — no matter the situation, they demanded that we were honest.
"I'm the last-born of the family. As the last-born, my siblings are always there for me through thick and thin, but there are times I am denied certain things just to teach me the lesson that one cannot have it all in life.
"I loved to explore objects, which led me into studying visual arts in the second cycle institution. There I came into contact with different forms of art like painting, textiles and graphic design. I love graphic design and textile designing more, because of the precision that it demands. My love for textiles translated into me studying fashion design and textiles at the tertiary level. Under the fashion program I had to study drafting, millinery work, etc. Going through tertiary is what inspired my choice of combining colors when designing.
"As I desired to impact knowledge, I had to go through the educational school, where I acquired the skills to teach. At the educational school, I studied the rudiments of fashion and catering, and later graduated and started teaching. After some time, I realized that I needed to give back to society whatever I learned in school, so I joined the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE). The commission is responsible for educating the public on any new subject of importance. While in NCCE, I make time to explore my creative ability by designing apparel and accessories for friends and family. I make these accessories with African printed cotton fabrics.
"My goal is to train other people with the knowledge I have. I am happily married with two kids who cope well with what I do and sometimes give me ideas in designing. I also derive inspiration from the environment.
"I was introduced to Novica, a platform where I can continue to design and bring my God-given talent into the light.”
