"I am very creative and passionate about garments. Since my school days, I have been fascinated with fashion and designs."
“I am Ajay Kapoor from Ghaziabad, a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. As I grew up, I studied fashion design in Delhi. I am... very creative and passionate about garments. Since my school days, I have been fascinated with fashion and designs. After completing my studies, I joined an export house which dealt with ladies’ accessories and home textiles. There I learned a lot about design implementation, style, quality control and development.
“After gaining experience in ladies accessories and home textiles, I switched jobs to another export company which worked with ladies’ garments. There I gathered knowledge about designing and the cons and pros of developing ladies’ garments. One has to always be thoughtful about designs and newness, the market requirements, the trends and forecasts. One always has to keep an eye on the new fabrics launched and the demands of the clients. I learned about various kinds of embroidery work and other embellishments. Finally, I changed my job to an export company that worked with knit garments for men and women. There I learned about the development of knit fabrics, and about creating designs with creativity.
“After working for 12 years in different export houses, I was successful in gathering vast knowledge and experience in varied fields of designing and developing garments. While working with the export houses, I worked closely with a lot of clients and had made a good connection with them. That is when I decided to do something of my own. In 2018, I started a small manufacturing unit with a small team of 4 members. Initially, I collaborated with various clients whom I already knew from working at the export houses from USA, Canada and South Africa. I acquire orders from them and fulfilled the orders as per their requirements and needs. I personally look after the quality control and development of each collection. I provide plus-sized ladies garments to one of my USA clients, which is their special category and which is very well accepted and appreciated.
“Recently I have also collaborated with clients from India and presented them with my designs too. Different people have different fashion senses and styles. So at times it is very challenging to create something according to their taste and liking. We plan our collections keeping the market scenario in mind as well as the need of our current clients.
“I dream of expanding my team and my manufacturing unit. I wish to offer job opportunities to more people and in that way contribute to the betterment of our society.
I hope to export my designs to different countries soon and also create a brand name for myself. I have two sons, and I hope that as they grow up they will join me and support me to grow in this fashion world.
“When I came across Novica, I was very impressed to discover how they promote crafts and artisans from all over the world. I am very fortunate and thankful to you for providing me a platform to showcase my designs and style worldwide.”
