“My name is Rejoice Klutse, from the Volta region of Ghana. I am a fashion and accessory designer. “Life and its... “My name is Rejoice Klutse, from the Volta region of Ghana. I am a fashion and accessory designer.
“Life and its uncertainties affected me growing up; therefore I had to move from my home town to live with my elder brother in Greater Accra, specifically in Nungua. I was very skillful then, and I needed help through school. Therefore, my brother enrolled me into a sewing school.
“While still learning to sew, I encountered various crises, one of which was meeting the love of my life, who in the end was lying to me after promising to marry me. We had a child together, and he refused responsibility for my son. By God's grace, my son is in school, and I made sure he never lacked anything. But even with me going through all of these issues, my elder brother never ceases to amaze me with surprises and constantly making me happy.
“After a year or two, I came out of school and started to sew for friends and family on our veranda. With time, I obtained my own shop with proceeds that I saved from sewing. As time passed, I employed apprentices, to come help and learn the job. I teach them a variety of styles. Now I work with my cousin, who also has a great talent in sewing. My aim is to train more and more people.
“Growing up, I developed a passion for dressmaking. I can easily analyze colors and create a look. I can designs face masks, clothing and accessories. My inspiration comes from my dreams and my imagination. Quality is my hallmark when designing.”
