Solace Pearl Anang

Solace Pearl Anang

"The fear of failure, fear of rejection and lack of funding made me determined to succeed as I started out on my own. My mum helps me by guiding me."

"Solace Pearl Anang is my name. I was born in Accra in December of 1990. My friends say I am hardworking, goal-driven,... generous and creative.

"I was raised from childhood by a single mother. My mum had a hard time providing for us, her children. But I worked and was able to complete my university education successfully.

"My grandma traded in beads, and I found they interested me. Jewelry attracted me because I could use my creativity and I love to craft things with my hands. My mother taught me the basics and she says I am gifted by nature. I watched her as she made beaded jewelry and I kept practicing to master this art. Now I also use colorful African print fabrics to create accessories and home decor accents.

"The fear of failure, fear of rejection and lack of funding made me determined to succeed as I started out on my own. My mum helps me by guiding me. The availability of colors and fabrics makes me love my work.

"My inspiration comes from nature, and my children are also a strong source of inspiration. My hope is to establish a sustainable workshop so that I can leave a legacy for my children."
