"I managed to learn the intricacies of ceramic art through hard work, repetition and experimentation, consistency and... dedication – constant effort is really the only way I can think of to achieve success in the world of ceramics.

"I've dedicated my life to ceramics. Even though I studied industrial design, when I got to know about my city's school of design and handcrafts I decided to enroll in a theoretical ceramics course which inspired me to start practicing what I had learned. I was drawn to the process – I just knew I had to do it and that's how I stepped into the world of ceramics.

"Getting my workshop started is the result of several years' worth of daily effort. At first we didn't have the necessary funds, and we've also managed to survive times of hardship with few sales. However we persevered and we eventually overcame the obstacles that came our way. Today we're able to fulfill orders placed by customers who have been with us through the years – they trust the high quality of our products.

"The basic ingredient in all of our products is of course clay, but the most important one is the glaze, and over the years we have developed, tried and tested different formulas. We have developed high temperature glazes and the effects we have created characterize our work, which is very different to any other ceramic work you'll see crafted in Mexico.

"Nature inspires me – I look for the details in everything that surrounds me and then I try to give them a shape through my designs.

"The part I enjoy the most is the unique effect the glazes have on the ceramic pieces. Opening the kiln to see objects no one has seen before me fills me emotion. Yes there can be times when that emotion is a bitter one when you see how the high temperature transformed a design, but generally it's a good feeling and we achieve surprising results, as well as few catastrophes.

"We had pieces falling on top of each other when they're baking, accidentally resulting in weird-looking pieces. However most of the time we achieve beautiful, harmonic pieces. When we put our pieces in the kiln can be a very defiant moment, especially when the weather is bad, or the pieces are just too large. But in the end, what I love the most, is that ceramic art will always surprise you.

"At the moment I work with a small team of assistants – some have worked with me for years and some have recently joined us. I try to create a friendly working environment and to provide fair wages.

"My goal is to keep working hard at this so my venture grows and hopefully one or both of my children would like to continue the work I started – I would love it if it becomes a family tradition that goes on to be a family legacy for many generations."

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.

BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

 

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

Sash tie length

Lay sash/tie out flat away from the garment and measure from end to end.

Belt with buckle

Measure from the end of the pin of the buckle (where it touches the buckle) to the middle hole.

Belt without buckle

Measure from the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This is will give you the medium size of the belt.
